Bernier/Eliades gallery is pleased to present the solo exhibition of Berta Fischer, on Wednesday 18 May, 18:00 - 22:00. This is the first time the artist is exhibiting at Bernier/Eliades Gallery and will be present at the opening.
Berta Fischer's (b.1973, Germany) exhibition includes a series of new sculptures in acrylic glass, as the artist continues to explore the rich possibilities of this industrial material.
Fischer's works create sequences of biomorphic, crystalline and fluid shapes. Hung on the wall, suspended from the ceiling or seemingly suspended in the gallery space, they seem to defy gravity.
Each of these sculptures emerged through a multi-layered process involving CAD drawings, computer-controlled laser cutting and hand modeling. In this way, Fischer highlights the properties of the material, even though the striking forms of her works can make one forget this material dimension at first glance.
Her sculptures are the result of a patient process of bending and folding perspex plates and resemble images of frozen movements, both moving and still, fragile and unyielding.
Some of her other sculptures - reminiscent of the sinuous lines of folded Perspex plates - are interwoven with fabric threads. While her acrylic glass works achieve an impression of condensed space, the meshes in her neon sculptures evoke complex surfaces that suggest an idea of entanglement.
Berta Fischer's transparent, fluorescent and colourful works evoke an unfamiliar, seemingly dreamlike landscape composed of natural forms. Shapes are deformed in her sculptures, solidified and fluidized, stabilized and dissolved. This is, after all, the philosophy of Fischer's work: transformation, which gives her sculpture the character of a joyful wandering.

Η γκαλερί Bernier/Eliades εγκαινιάζει την ατομική έκθεση της Berta Fischer, την Τετάρτη 18 Μαΐου 18:00 - 22:00. Είναι η πρώτη φορά που πραγματοποιεί έκθεση στην γκαλερί Bernier/Eliades. Η καλλιτέχνιδα θα παρευρίσκεται στα εγκαίνια.
Η έκθεση της Berta Fischer (γ.1973, Γερμανία) περιλαμβάνει μια σειρά καινούργιων γλυπτών από ακρυλικό γυαλί, καθώς η καλλιτέχνιδα συνεχίζει να εξερευνά τις πλούσιες δυνατότητες αυτού του βιομηχανικού υλικού.
Τα έργα της Fischer δημιουργούν αλληλουχίες βιομορφικών, κρυσταλλικών και ρευστών σχημάτων. Αναρτημένα από τον τοίχο, κρεμασμένα από την οροφή ή φαινομενικά αιωρούμενα στο χώρο της γκαλερί, μοιάζουν σαν να αψηφούν την βαρύτητα.
Κάθε ένα από αυτά τα γλυπτά προέκυψε μέσα από μια πολυεπίπεδη διαδικασία που περιλαμβάνει σχέδια CAD, κοπή με λέιζερ που ελέγχεται από υπολογιστή και μοντελοποίηση με το χέρι. Η Fischer αναδεικνύει με αυτό τον τρόπο τις ιδιότητες του υλικού, παρόλο που οι εντυπωσιακές μορφές των έργων της μπορεί να κάνουν κάποιον να ξεχάσει αυτή την υλική διάσταση με την πρώτη ματιά.
Τα γλυπτά της είναι αποτέλεσμα μιας υπομονετικής διαδικασίας κάμψης και διπλώματος των πλακών perspex και μοιάζουν με εικόνες παγωμένων κινήσεων, κινούμενων και ακίνητων, εύθραυστες και ανυποχώρητες.
Κάποια άλλα γλυπτά της - που θυμίζουν τις ελικοειδείς γραμμές των διπλωμένων πλακών Perspex - δια πλέκονται με υφασμάτινες κλωστές. Ενώ τα έργα της από ακρυλικό γυαλί επιτυγχάνουν μια εντύπωση συμπυκνωμένου χώρου, τα πλέγματα στα γλυπτά από νέον, αναδύουν πολύπλοκες επιφάνειες που υποδηλώνουν μια ιδέα εμπλοκής.
Τα διάφανα, φθορίζοντα και πολύχρωμα έργα της Berta Fischer θυμίζουν ένα τοπίο άγνωστο, φαινομενικά ονειρικό που απαρτίζεται από φυσικές μορφές. Τα σχήματα παραμορφώνονται στα γλυπτά της, στερεοποιούνται και ρευστοποιούνται, σταθεροποιούνται και διαλύονται. Αυτή άλλωστε είναι και η φιλοσοφία του έργου της Fischer: η μεταμόρφωση, που προσδίδει στην γλυπτική της τον χαρακτήρα μίας χαρούμενηςπεριπλάνησης.
